This chipotle salsa is truly simple! With only three ingredients, a delicious and medium spicy salsa is created. Chipotle peppers are not an item I pick up everyday.
One day I decided I wanted to try them out, so I grabbed them. The peppers have such a unique zing of flavor. They are delicious to incorporate into many different recipes.
What you need to make the chipotle salsa:
Gather these three ingredients:
- Chipotle peppers in adobo: these can usually be found at any major grocery store. You will need about three peppers.
- Rotel diced tomatoes: unless you want the salsa super spicy, be sur to get the mild or original variety.
- Sea salt: just enough to flavor the salsa.
Is this salsa spicy?
On a scale of mild (not hardly spicy), to hot (very spicy), this salsa falls right in the middle. It has a medium spice level. It is the smoky flavor from the chipotles that make this such a delicious salsa.
What to use the chipotle salsa for:
One of my favorite uses to date are these creamy chipotle cheeseburgers. The flavor profile of these burgers are out of this world! Another great use for the salsa is of course with some delicious tacos.
Or if you are just in the mood for a snack, eat the salsa with some tortilla chips. After all, chips and salsa are a whole food group right!?
