How to Make Steak Egg and Cheese Bagel:
Toast Bagels
Begin by toasting the bagels in a toaster or toaster oven until they are golden brown, then set them aside.
Fry Steak
Heat up olive oil or avocado oil in a skillet over medium high heat until it is lightly smoking, about one minute or so.
Then gently add the shaved steak to the skillet. Sprinkle all of the seasonings over the steak including the seasoned salt, steak seasoning, garlic powder, and black pepper.
Use a spatula to gently break up and flip the steak meat so that it browns on all sides. Once most of the pink is cooked out of the steak, add the diced onions to the skillet.
Sauté the steak and onions together for about 2–3 minutes, or until the onions are soft and translucent. Remove the steak and onions from the skillet.
Scramble Cheesy Eggs
Add the beaten eggs to the same skillet and cook them until they are cooked through and fluffy (be sure to stir them constantly so they do not burn).
Turn off the heat and separate the scrambled eggs into 4 even sections. Add one slice of cheese over each pile of eggs.
Make the Steak Egg and Cheese Bagel Sauce
In a small bowl combine the mayonnaise, dijon mustard, black pepper, and garlic powder. Stir this until fully combined.
Assemble Bagel Sandwiches
Smear sauce onto each freshly toasted bagel. Then add some of the steak and onions, followed by the egg and cheese.
Finally, enjoy!
Alternatives and Variations:
- Bagel: Make these breakfast bagel sandwiches with your favorite bagels. Instead of plain bagels, try everything bagels or sesame bagels for even more flavor.
- Protein: This recipe works great with leftover steak. Just reheat it over medium heat in the skillet before assembling the breakfast bagels. If you do not have steak, swap it for bacon or a pork sausage patty.
- Sauce: If you want to try another sauce, mayonnaise, steak sauce or Worcestershire sauce are just as tasty.
Storing and Reheating:
Although these are best enjoyed the same day, leftovers can be stored in an airtight container or wrapped in foil. Store them in the fridge for up to 3 days. Reheat the sandwiches in the air fryer or toaster oven until warmed through.
