Air fryer steak bites are a go-to option for an easy weeknight dinner. Tender bites of marinated steak are melt-in-your-mouth good and they pair well with so many side dishes! The best part is that there is no oven, stove, or grill required to make the best air fryer steak bites.

Why We Love This Air Fryer Steak Bites Recipe:

Convenient! If you want a quick, satisfying meal in less than 30 minutes, this is an easy way to make steak without heating up the oven or cooking on the stove.

Tasty! These juicy air fryer steak bites are seasoned with a simple marinade of worcestershire sauce, avocado oil, and assorted seasonings. The result is truly mouthwatering!

Versatile! Serve these yummy steak cubes with anything: noodles, rice, salad, fries, vegetables, you name it!

Ingredients you need:

  • Ribeye steaks: Ribeye has a nice marbling that results in succulent steak bites with plenty of natural flavor. Cut them into bite-size pieces so they are easier to eat and cook faster.
  • Worcestershire sauce: The vinegar in the sauce tenderizes the steak and the sauce itself adds a deep umami flavor that is absolutely delicious.
  • Avocado oil: Use this for the marinade. Olive oil works as a substitute.
  • Seasoning: I keep it simple with 1 teaspoon of steak seasoning, and ½ teaspoon of cajun seasoning, and ½ teaspoon of black pepper.
  • Dried rosemary: This adds a fresh pop of herby flavor without actually using fresh herbs.

How to Cook Steak Bites in Air Fryer:

Marinate Steak

Rinse the steaks off and pat them dry with a paper towel. Cut the steaks into bite-size pieces into 1-inch cubes using a very sharp knife.

Place the steak bites into a gallon-size Ziploc bag. Pour the worcestershire sauce and avocado oil into the bag with the steak. Now add the seasonings (steak seasoning, cajun seasoning, black pepper, and dried rosemary).

Close the bag using the zipper, and remove as much air as possible. Use your hands to massage the marinade into the meat.

If time permits, refrigerate the steak bites for at least one hour before cooking.

Air Fry Steak Bites

Line the air fryer with a piece of aluminum foil. Then place the steak pieces into the air fryer in one single layer.

Place the air fryer on “bake” at 350°F. Cook for 5 minutes, then open the air fryer and turn the steak over to cook an additional 1-2 minutes.

Increase or decrease cooking time depending on how well done you like your steak. Serve right away, and enjoy!

Alternatives and Variations:

  • No Air Fryer: If you do not have an air fryer, fry the steak bites in an cast iron skillet instead. Preheat the skillet over high heat for 2-3 minutes and then add the steak bites to the hot pan and cook for about 5 minutes.
  • Types of Steak: I use ribeye but sirloin steak or flank steak would work well too. Otherwise, just use your favorite cut of steak.
  • Seasoning: You can use a simple mix of salt, pepper, and Italian seasoning. Instead of rosemary, you can use parsley.
  • Garlic Butter: Want even more flavor? Toss cooked steak bites in a large bowl with garlic butter sauce (just a simple mix of melted butter and either garlic powder or minced garlic).

What to Serve with Air Fryer Steak Bites:

  • Potatoes: Air fryer steak bites and potatoes are the perfect combo. Serve them with mashed potatoes or fries.
  • Rice or Pasta: Keep it simple with a side of white rice or over some noodles. Tender air fryer steak bites would be great in a bowl. Either option works for dinner in less than 20 minutes.
  • Vegetables: For a low carb meal, serve air fryer steak bites with a side of roasted or air fried veggies.
  • Tacos or Burritos: Make Taco Tuesday just a bit tastier by adding them as a protein option. Alternatively, wrap them in large tortillas for burritos on the go.

Pro-Tips:

  • Ensure the bite-sized pieces are cut evenly so they cook at the same rate.
  • Line the air fryer basket with aluminum foil. The steak is wet from the marinade and this prevents the meat from sticking to the surface. It also makes for easier cleanup.
  • Do not overcrowd the air fryer so the hot air can properly circulate.
  • Remember to flip the steak so they cook evenly. (This is especially important since we are placing foil beneath the steak.)
  • Steak is safe to consume once it reaches an internal temperature of 145°F (medium). For medium-rare, cook the steak within a temperature range of 125°F - 135°F.

Storing and Reheating:

Store leftover air fryer steak bites in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 4 days. You can reheat them in the air fryer for 2-3 minutes.

Frequently Asked Question:

Can you cook raw steak in an air fryer?

Steak is easy to cook in the air fryer. You can cook at a higher heat in a fraction of the time a traditional oven would take. It cooks fast and a shorter cooking time ensures it stays nice and juicy.

How long should I air fry steak for?

The cooking time depends on how well you prefer your steak. The time varies from 4 minutes to 10 minutes. Any longer than 10 minutes and your steak will be tough and overcooked.

How do you cook a steak in an air fryer without it drying out?

In order to prevent the steak from drying out, cook it at a higher temperature for a shorter amount of time. It also helps to allow the steak to sit for a few minutes after removing it from the air fryer so the juices have time to redistribute.
