Ingredients you need for Baked Pork Chops:

  • Boneless Pork chops: Ensure they are at least 1 inch thick. Thin pork chops tend to dry out easily.
  • Seasoning: Use cajun seasoning (with salt), garlic powder, onion powder, and black pepper. Evenly coat the pork chops on both sides.
  • Olive Oil: To sear the pork in.

Honey Garlic Sauce

  • Honey: For sweetness. You can also add a touch of brown sugar to enhance the sweetness.
  • Garlic: Minced. The garlic is the star of the show here!
  • Soy sauce: Add for umami flavor.
  • Water: To thin the sauce out.

How to Cook Boneless Pork Chops:

Season Boneless Pork Chops

Preheat the oven to 375º F. Rinse them, and then dry the boneless pork chops with some paper towels, and set them aside on a clean dry surface.

Add your cajun seasoning, garlic powder, onion powder, and black pepper to a small bowl. Mix the seasonings up until everything is fully combined.

Sear Before Placing Pork Chops in Oven

Heat up a cast iron skillet over medium-high heat on the stove to sear your pork chops. Pour in the olive oil and heat it for 30 seconds.

Place each pork chop in the skillet and sear them on each side for about 3 minutes, or until a nice brown crust is formed.

Oven Bake Pork Chops

Place the skillet in the oven to continue cooking the pork chops. Bake them for 10 minutes.

Alternatively, you can just add your chops to a baking sheet or baking dish, and place them in the oven instead of searing them.

Prepare Honey Garlic Sauce

While the skillet is in the oven, make the honey garlic sauce by mixing the honey, garlic, soy sauce, and water together in a small bowl.

Continue to Bake Honey Garlic Pork Chops

Put the pork chops back in the oven and continue to bake for another 10 minutes. The sauce will begin to thicken.  Cook time may vary a bit based on how thick your meat is.

Remove the skillet from the oven and turn the chops over so that they are fully coated in the sauce. Let them rest for at least 5 minutes before serving.

And enjoy!

Alternatives and Variations:

  • Breaded Pork Chops: Want the crunch of fried pork chops without the excess oil? Instead of searing, coat the boneless pork chops with panko bread crumbs before baking.
  • Baked Bone-In Pork Chops: You can use this instead of boneless but they take a bit longer to cook.
  • Skip the searing part: you can place the seasoned pork chops directly in a baking dish or baking sheet and place them right into the oven. Bake until the internal temperature reaches at least 145 f.

Pro-Tips:

  • Take the pork tenderloins out of the refrigerator about 30 minutes before you cook them so they can come to room temperature. Cooking pork chops at room temperature ensures they cook evenly.
  • Avoid overcooking baked pork chops by checking their internal temperature with a meat thermometer. They are safe to eat when they reach 145 degrees. Anywhere in the range of 145°F-150°F is good.
  • Do not skip the 5-minute resting period. The pork chops will continue to cook during that time. This also allows the juices to redistribute throughout the meat. If you slice it too soon, all the juices will come out and you will have dry pork chops.

Storing and Reheating:

After the leftover baked pork chops cool down completely, place them in a large Ziploc bag, or an airtight container. Store them in the fridge for up to three days.

When you are ready to reheat them, place them in an oven preheated to 350 degrees or air fryer and reheat for about 5 minutes. Alternatively, place them in the microwave for 1-2 minutes, but this will yield a chewier pork chop.

FAQ:

How long do you cook boneless pork chops?

Depending on the thickness of the pork chop, cooking time will vary between 12-20 minutes.

Is it better to bake pork chops covered or uncovered?

For the best pork chops, cook them uncovered. You can cover them with aluminum foil while they are resting as an extra step to seal in moisture since they continue to cook when they are removed from the oven.

What is the secret to tender pork chops?

The key to tender juicy pork chops is thicker chops. Do not overcook them and allow them to rest for about 5 minutes after they come out of the oven.
