This low-carb cheeseburger salad has everything you would have on a traditional cheeseburger- just without the bun!
Check out another awesome low-carb and keto friendly treat with these Bacon Wrapped Loaded Jalapeno Poppers.
Guess what I had in mind when I whipped up this salad? A BIG FAT GREASY CHEESEBURGER! Seriously though, cheeseburgers are so delicious, but it's easy to feel some type of way after indulging in one. So instead of feeling guilty, we created the low-carb cheeseburger salad.
There are so many people on the "keto diet" bandwagon right now, and of course we had them in mind. Even more though, it's always fun to put a spin on just the regular, everyday salad. A lot of restaurants even offer low-carb options.
For instance, Five Guys burgers will offer a cheeseburger wrapped in lettuce instead of a bun. They aren't the only ones that offer this type of burger- Shake-n-Steak has a lettuce burger, and so does Smashburger.
Why a cheeseburger salad instead of a lettuce burger?
Let's face it- when you eat a burger wrapped in lettuce, it makes a big mess, the burger slips out, or the lettuce simply doesn't hold up. So instead of going through the hassle of trying to hold everything together with lettuce, we deiced to toss it all together in this salad! The cheeseburger salad works out perfectly because you can take a fork to it, so the messy factor is eliminated. Furthermore, the salad still packs all the amazing flavors of a regular cheeseburger.
What kind of dressing or sauce is used?
Something that is unmatched is that special sauce that McDonald's puts on their Big Mac sandwiches! Since we felt inspired by those flavors, we created our very own copycat Big Mac dressing. That sauce is perfect for this salad- it has the right amount of zest, with a hint of sweetness from the relish and french dressing. If you fancy a spicier sauce, add a touch of cayenne pepper to the recipe.
