Ingredients

  • 3 Steaks marinade recipe such as flat iron steak, ribeye, or sirloin, about 1 inch thick
  • 4 medium Potatoes washed, peeled, and cubed
  • 3 tablespoons Avocado or Olive oil divided
  • 4 cloves Garlic minced
  • 1 tablespoon Seasoned salt for potatoes
  • 2 tablespoons Garlic minced
  • 1 teaspoon dried thyme
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions

  • 1. Preheat your cast iron skillet over medium-high heat.
  • 2. Add 1 tablespoon of avocado oil or olive oil to the skillet and heat it until simmering (about 30 seconds to 1 minute).
  • 3. Add your cleaned and cubed potatoes into the skillet and sprinkle with seasoned salt. Use a spatula to toss them in the skillet to distribute the seasoning evenly. Let them cook for 3-5 minutes, then flip them over and cook an additional 3-5 minutes.
  • 4. Remove the potatoes from the skillet and set them aside in a bowl.
  • 5. If your steaks are not already marinated , season them steaks generously with salt and pepper on both sides. Add the remaining olive oil or avocado oil into the skillet over medium high heat.
  • 6.  Place the steaks in the skillet and cook for about 4-5 minutes per side for medium-rare steak, or adjust the cooking time based on your preferred doneness. Once cooked to your liking, remove the steaks from the skillet and set aside to rest.
  • 7. While the steaks are resting, reduce the heat to medium-low and add the butter, minced garlic, and dried thyme to the skillet. Cook for an additional 1-2 minutes until fragrant, stirring constantly to prevent burning.
  • 6. Add the potatoes back into the skillet and stir them into the butter sauce, then move them to one side of the skillet.
  • 7. Slice the steaks against the grain into thin pieces. Add the steak back into the skillet and toss them in the sauce to coat. Serve while hot, and enjoy!
