Today’s National Avocado Day! So to honor the day, it’s only right to roll out this AMAZING authentic homemade guacamole! This guacamole is authentic because of the robust flavors of the cilantro, the hint of spice from the jalapeno, and my favorite addition, the garlic powder! It is super simple to make, and is the greatest addition to taco night, nachos, or even just a dip for some warm tortilla chips. The best part about guacamole is that it is a very healthy and delicious treat.
Do you know a trick to selecting a perfectly ripe avocado?
Take off the little brown stub at the tip of the avocado. If it is green underneath that “stub,” the avocado is ripe. Sometimes you will see brown under there, that means the avocado will go bad a lot quicker because it is too ripe.
Authentic homemade guacamole could not be any easier to make. Get the ripe avocados, mash them to desired texture, and add in your additional veggies and seasoning.
- 3 ripe Avocados, mashed
- 1 Roma tomato, diced
- 1 Jalapeno pepper, diced
- 1/4 cup Cilantro, chopped
- 1/4 Red onion, diced
- 1 tablespoon Fresh lime juice
Seasoning (to taste)
- 1 teaspoon Garlic powder
- 1 teaspoon Salt
- 1/2 teaspoon Black pepper
- 1 teaspoon Cumin
- Using a fork, mash avocado to desired consistency. Once avocado is mashed, add all ingredients and seasoning. Mix well.
- Use right away, or cover and refrigerate for 3-5 days.
